Anthony’s Experience

Anthony’s professional career began in 1985, gaining early experience of complex international disputes through handling the Piper Alpha disaster and the Lockerbie Boeing 747 tragedy.  

During his long legal career Anthony has advised a broad range of professions and businesses on contentious issues. He represented both claimants and defendants, successfully negotiating the resolution of many problematic disputes. Anthony has been involved in both domestic and international disputes, and over the last 10 years he gained particular expertise of US litigation, including leading the resolution of mediations in the USA. 

Anthony has particular expertise in insurance and reinsurance matters, both contentious and non-contentious. His experience covers both handling the substantive dispute and on coverage.

  • Subrogated hull claims following the destruction of the Pan Am 747 destroyed over Lockerbie
  • Satellite insurance dispute culminating in an arbitration in Paris
  • Representing engine manufacturers following the loss of the British Midland Boeing 737 near Kegworth
  • Product liability and recall claims in the motor, aviation and food industry
  • Disputes arising from the World Trade Center attacks

Recent examples are confidential as the existence of insurance in these disputes is generally not known and the disputes have been resolved through mediation, but the subject matter includes:

  • Numerous class actions in the United States 
  • Warranty and indemnity disputes following acquisitions
  • Multiple losses relating to data breaches and ransomware
  • Negligence claims against professions such as lawyers, architects and engineers
  • Event cancellation
